Vladimir Malakhov is the European Rapid Champion 2009!
Bartlomiej Macieja [Wed Dec 23rd, 20:48]The European Rapid Championship 2009 (and at the same time the 9th Amplico Life International Chess Tournament) took place in Warsaw, Poland, on the 19th and 20th of December. It was clearly the biggest and the strongest championship ever with 685 participants and the average rating of top 5 players equal to 2728.
The biggest stars were Vugar Gashimov, Vassily Ivanchuk and Alexei Shirov, however Sergei Movsesian, Vladimir Malakhov and Viorel Bologan were also among favourites.

OlimpBase, the online encyclopaedia of international team events

OlimpBase, the online encyclopaedia of international team events, was launched in 2004, and soon became widely known and renowned source of information on team chess. Although originally it dealt merely with the history of the chess olympiads - from which idea it took its name - it grew quickly due to high pressure from the readers on adding new events into the database. Nowadays it provides detailed information on more than 300 tournaments, and still fast growing, from 1900s until today.

Open letter to FIDE and the 78th FIDE Congress in Antalya, Turkey by Valery Golubenko

On September 17, 2007, FIDE addressed the Estonian Chess Federation (ECF) with the letter of 5 main concerns regarding equal participation of all persons residing in Estonia in access to the chess life of Estonia and request regarding conditions upon which the citizenship of Estonia can be received. The ECF replied on Nov. 8, 2007, or one day (!) prior to the FIDE Congress, leaving in fact no chance to the Supreme Institution of FIDE to study it thoroughly.

Consecutive Letter to FIDE addressed by the parents of young chess players of Estonia
ACP [Tue Nov 13th, 07:06]Four months ago, on July the 14th, we appealed to FIDE, ACP and ECU stressing that ECF discriminates our children by violating their right to participate in youth World and European championships. Following our appeal on August the 5th a meeting of ACP and FIDE was held in Moscow. As a result, FIDE sent over to ECF a letter of investigation.

Turkish Chess Federation Sued European Chess Union
