No change in the K-factor of ELO-rating
Olena Boytsun [Wed Jul 01st, 14:28]The FIDE Presidential Board (June 15-18, 2009) in Krakow, Poland, froze the previous decision of the General Assembly to increase the K-factor value for rating calculations. It was decided that the changes are to be investigated in detail, and so the propositions were sent back to the Qualification Commission for further investigation.

K-factor discussion Part 2
Dmitry Jakovenko [Fri Jun 05th, 23:56]
The latest decision of FIDE to postpone the increase of the K-factor finally caused disputes on whether such increase was needed at all. The nature of these disputes till now has given little contribution to the creation of verity. The rating system is a mathematical model and it should not be discussed only on qualitative level. Being at the same time a grand master and a graduating student of the mathematical statistics department, I hope to submit a qualified opinion on this problem and turn the course of further disputes to a more constructive direction.

K-factor discussion continues
