Information and Regulations
of the International Chess Tournament
"Moscow Open 2005" -
stage of Moscow "Grand Prix" 2005, Russia Cup 2005, ACP Tour 2004-2005

The International Chess Tournament "Moscow Open 2005" will be held in Moscow from February 25th to March 3th 2005.
The tournament venue is Russian States Social University (RGSU), V.Pick Streat 4 building 5 (Metro Station "Botanichesky Sad").
The Organizer of the tournament is the Moscow Chess Federation.

Tournament System and Time controls:
The tournament will be held by Swiss system, 9 rounds. 105 minutes for all game with an increment of 30 seconds per move from move 1.

The tournament is a stage of the Moscow "Grand Prix" 2005 , Russia Cup 2005 and the ACP tour 2004-2005 (detailed information at www.chess-players.org).

Prize fund:
The total guaranteed prize fund is 300 000 Rubles (more than 10 700 USD at the exchange rate: 1 USD = 27.8 Rubles).

Categories of prizes:

3 prizes are set in the following categories: (FIDE ratings of 1.01.2005 are taken into concideration), in USD:

  1. Prizes for chessplayers with a FIDE rating less than 2399 but higher than 2200:

  3. Prizes for chessplayers with a FIDE rating less than 2199 but higher than 2000:

  9. Prizes for seniors (A player will be considered a senior when he was born before 1-1-1945.)

Girls and boys under 16, 14, 12 and 10 will be awarded with non-money prizes in their categories.

Only one prize can be awarded to a player (the highest one) The prizes in cases of a tie of two or more participants will be divided according to the Hort system. Prizes according to categories shall not be divided. The main additional index - the Buchholz system (without considering the result of opponent with the least score), the second additional index - average rating of opponents.

Terms of participation:

International grandmasters (also WGM) whose participation will be confirmed no later than February 16 2005 shall pay no entry fee.
International masters pay 1000 Rubles entry fee (if payment made before February 16th 2005 (30 Euro for foreign participants in case of payment transfer to the Euro account) and - 1500 Rubles if payment made after February 16 (45 Euro for foreign participants in case of the payment transfer to the Euro account).
All other players pay 2000 Rubles entry fee if payment made before February 16th 2005 and 2500 Rubles if payment made after February 16th 2005.
For Women, seniors (born before 1.01.1945) and juniors (born after 31.12.1986) a discount of 50% will be provided if payment made before February 16th 2005. The fee will make 1500 Rubles if payment made after February 16th 2005.
Foreign participants pay (in case of payment transfer to the Euro account):
60 Euro (if payment made before February 16th 2005)
75 Euro (if payment made after February 16th 2005)
The tournament fee in Euro for International Masters, women, seniors (born before 1.01.1945) and juniors (born after 31.12.1986) will make:
30 Euro (if payment made before February 16th 2005)
45 Euro.(if payment made after February 16th 2005)

The tournament fees should be transferred to the Moscow Chess Federation account:

à) at the Chess Federation office in Moscow (Bumazhny proezd, 14, building 1, office 427), òåë. +7-095- 2500441;
á) at the "Russia" hotel (tournament's direction) on February 15th and 16th 2005 ã.

The tournament fees will also be (at a higher rate - 500 Rubles ) accepted before the beginning of the tournament at the RSGU during the registration of the participants.

Accommodation:

Accommodation applications for the participants and accompanying persons should be placed no later than February 16th 2005. Some accommodation prices by the hotels nearly the tournament venue, for 1 person / night (in Rubles / Euro): "Voskhod"(Metro Station "Vladikino") 600 (18) / 800 (23); "Tourist", "Baikal" (both are Metro Station "Botanitscheskij Sad"): 500 (15) / 1100 (32); "Sajany" (Metro Station "VDNH"): 450 (14) / 450 (14).

Meal:

It's possible to make for the participants a very cheap half board for 180 Rubles (about 5 Euro) or full board for 300 Rubles (about 8 Euro) by the hotel's restourants!

Visa:

The participants who will take part also in Aeroflot Open (15-23.2.2005) will get visa for Russia until March 10th 2005. Other participants who needs visa should ask by Moscow Chess Federation - your passport should be valid not less the 6 months after leaving Russia.

The participants who will take part also in Aeroflot Open (15-23.2.2005) could take cheap fly tickets regarding the conditions of the Aeroflot Open, see www.aeroflotchess.com.
